Rava idli is a very popular breakfast recipe in Karnataka. It is also found in restaurants. Rava idli is served hot and is to be eaten along with coconut chutney or samber.
Ingredients
- 1 cup rava
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- ½ tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon chana dal
- Pinch hing
- few curry leaves
- Pinch of baking soda
- 1 tablespoon green chilli finely chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon ginger finely chopped
- 2 carrot grated
- ¼ tablespoon turmeric
- ¾ cup curd whisk
- 2 tablespoon coriander finely chopped
- ½ tablespoon salt
- ½ cup water
- 2-3 tablespoon oil
Instruction to make Rava Idli

First, add rava in a pan and roast well on a low flame until rava turns aromatic.

Now cool rava completely and transfer to a bowl and add cup curd, coriander, pinch of baking soda and salt.

In a pan heat oil and add mustard, jeera, chana dal, pinch hing, few curry leaves, chilli, ginger and saute for 2 minute.

Then add carrot, turmeric and put this into the rava batter.

Add water and mix well forming a smooth batter and rest for 20 minutes.

Grease the idli plate with oil and pour the batter into the idli plate.

Steam the rava idli for 15 minutes on medium flame.

Hot and tasty rava idli is ready serve with coconut chutney and sambar.
