Macchhilli Jaisamandi | Rajasthani Fish Cuisine | Non Veg Recipes

Macchhilli Jaisamandi is a delicious fish cuisine which is a famous dish of Rajasthan.  Do not forget to taste Macchhilli Jaisamandi if you visit Rajasthan Or simply try this recipe at home and I bet you will certainly love it.


  • Fish (as required)
  • Oil – 4 tsp
    Green chutney:
  • Fresh mint leaves – a bunch
  • Fresh coriander leaves – a bunch
  • Garlic and ginger- according to the taste
    For the batter:
  • eggs – 2
  • clarified flour – 250 gm
  • Water
  • Salt to taste
    For the sauce:
  • oil – 2 tsp
  • cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • fresh cream – 10 tsp
  • green chutney – 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

Macchhilli Jaisamandi Procedure:

       For the green chutney:
       In a blender, add mint leaves, coriander leaves, ginger, and garlic and blend it into a fine paste. Green chutney is ready.

      For the fish:

  1. Clean the fish and cut the fish into small pieces and slit in the middle
  2. Now, fill the fish with green chutney and keep it aside to marinate for 20 minutes
    For the batter:
  3. In a bowl add egg, clarified flour, salt and little to make a paste.
  4. Take a pan and put some oil and heat.
  5. Dip the fish pieces in the batter and shallow fry the fish in the pan
    For the main preparation:
  6. Take another pan and add little oil and heat it.
  7. Add cumin seeds and let it crackling.
  8. Now, add fresh cream, green chutney, semi-cooked fish and salt to taste.
  9. In a low flame cook the fish for a few minutes.
  10. Macchhili jaisamandi is ready
    Eat it with steamed rice, it would taste heavenly. Otherwise, you can simply eat without any main course.
