Mishti Doi | Bengali Dessert

 Mishti Doi is one of the most loved desserts of Bengalis. It is very easy to prepare at home. It is one of the best desserts during summer to keep you cool. Try making this at home and I am damn sure you would love it and crave for more!

Ingredients for Mishti Doi (for 250ml)

  • milk full cream – 3 cups 
  • sugar –2 tbsp 
  •  brown sugar –2 tbsp
  • water –1 tsp 
  •  curd / yogurt / mishti doi –2 tsp
  • few dry fruits chopped

How to prepare Mishti Doi

  1. Take a thick bottomed nonstick pan and heat 3 cups of milk.
  2. Get milk to boil.
  3. To this add 2 tbsp of sugar and stir well.
  4. Let the milk on medium flame till it thickens, keep stirring occasionally, till the milk reduces to half.
  5. Take a thick bottomed pan and add 2 tbsp brown sugar and a tsp of water and mix well.
  6. Boil it and keep stirring it till the sugar caramelises.
  7. Now add this caramelised sugar into boiled milk and allow it to cool completely.
  8. Once the milk is cooled and yet slightly warm, pour it into a clay pot or any container.
  9. To this add a tsp of curd and stir well.
  10. Cover this container and allow it to set in warm place for 8 hours or till it completely sets.
  11. Then refrigerate for 2 hours to get the nice creamy texture.
  12. While serving garnish with chopped nuts.
