Machli Amritsari | Amritsari Fish Fry | Non Veg Fish Recipes

A yummy Machli Amritsari dish for all fish lovers. Pieces of fish, covered with spicy batter and deep fried till golden. With the aroma of garam masala and a dash of lemon juice for that extra flavor.


  • 1-2 kg choice of your fish(better to use sea fish or any soft fish)
  • Salt to taste
  • For the batter:
  • gram flour(1 cup )
  • garam masala(2 tsp )
  • cumin powder(2 tsp )
  • red chili powder(1 tsp )
  • Salt to taste
  • turmeric powder(1 tsp )
  • Water
  • Lemon juice to taste
  • Sufficient oil, for deep frying

Machli amritsari Process:

Batter preparation:

  1. Take a bowl add gram flour, cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala,  salt, turmeric powder and water to make the batter of coating consistency. Mix it well. The batter is ready.

Main preparation:

  1. Clean all the pieces of fish. Then add some salt and leave it for 2-3 hours.
  2. After that wash off the salt and coat the fish pieces with the batter.
  3. In a pan add oil for deep fry and wait until the oil become hot.
  4. Then add the coated fish pieces and deep fry till it is done.
  5. The dish is now ready is ready to eat.
  6. Sprinkle some garam masala and lemon juice.
  7. Serve hot.
