Bisi Bele Bhaat Recipe is a very famous dish of Karnataka. It is served on many occasions. It is a healthy and nutritious food as there is bele(daal), and verity of vegetables added into it.

Ingredients:

  • Rice – 1/2 cup
  • Toor dal – 1/4 cup
  • Chopped vegetables – 1 1/2
  • Chana dal – 4 Tbsp
  • Urad dal – 2 Tbsp
  • Jeera – 2 tsp
  • Fenugreek – 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper – 1 tsp
  • Chillies – 3 red
  • Couscous -1 tsp
  • Grated coconut -2 Tbsp
  • Sprig of curry leaves – 2
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Jaggery – 1 Tbsp
  • Tamarind – marble size
  • Oil – 2 Tbsp o
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste

Bisi Bele Bhaat Recipe Procedure:

  1. In a cooker cook rice and toor dal and keep it aside.
  2. Take a cup of hot water and soak the tamarind and extract the tamarind water.
  3. In a cooker boil the vegetables.
  4. In a pan heat oil and add chana dal, urad dal, jeera, fenugreek, pepper, red chilli. Saute until dal turns light brown.
  5. Fry curry leaves.  Grind all the fried ingredients with coconut.
  6. Now in a small pan boil the tamarind water for 1 to 2 minutes. To that add turmeric powder, salt, and jaggery.
  7. To this vegetables and allow it to boil for 5 to 6 minutes.
  8. Add the grounded mixture and let it boil for 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Now add toor dal followed by rice and cook for 2 minutes.
  10. In a seperate pan heat oil and fry groundnut, channa dal,urad dal and mustard.
  11. Add all these fired ingredients to the bisi belebath.
  12. Serve hot with spicey boondhi.
