  • Split chickpeas (chana dal) – ½ cup
  • Coriander leaves – 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Finely chopped Green chillies – 2
  • Red Chilli Powder (½ tsp)
  • Garlic -2 to 4
  • Onion – ½ cup
  • Ginger -grated – ½-inch piece
  • Cumin seeds powder – ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Salt to taste

Kalmi Vada Veg Recipes Method

  • In a bowl soak chana dal in water for overnight. Grind the soaked dal to make a fine paste.
  • To this paste, add the green chillies, Chilli Powder, garlic paste, finely chopped onions, jeera powder, hing and salt and mix properly.
  • Divide the mixture into equal portions.
  • One portion shapes it into a vada. (Flatten it out on your palm)
  • In a kadhai heat oil.
  • Slowly slide the vada into the hot oil
  • Deep-fry till it is light brown in colour.
  • Repeat with all the other portions.
  • Cut the vadas into long strips and deep-fry again till they are golden brown and crisp.
  • Serve hot with any of the chutney.
