Chicken Xacuti Recipe is a typical Goan chicken dish. It is a spicy and very interesting recipe. Try this and let us know if u felt like going to Goa.

Ingredients:

  • Chicken – 1 kg
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Paste one for marination:
  • Ginger – 2 inches
  • Garlic – 10 flakes
  • Coriander – 1/2 bunch
  • Green chillies – 1/2 bunch
  • Paste two for Xacuti masala:
  • Groundnut oil – 1 tsp
  • Sliced onions – 2
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Flakes garlic – 5
  • Granted large coconut – 1
  • Coriander – 1/2 bunch
    Paste three of Xacuti Masala:
  • Cinnamon – 2 inches
  • Cardamoms – 3 peeled
  • Aniseed – 1 tsp
  • Black pepper corn – 1 tsp
  • Poppy seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Kashmiri red chillies – 10
  • Star anise – 1
  • Maize flour – 1
  • Nutmeg – 1/4 piece
  • Turmeric – 1/2 inch
  • Finishing:
  • Groundnut oil – 2 tsp
  • Sliced onions – 2
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Water – 1/4 cup

Chicken Xacuti Recipe Procedure:

  1. To the curry-cut chicken, add salt and turmeric powder.
  2. To this add paste One ginger, garlic, coriander, chillies and mix thoroughly.
  3. Marinate this for half an hour.
  4. To make paste two, heat a pan with oil and saute sliced onions, green chillies, ginger, garlic. For about 3 minutes.
  5. To this add 1 full grated coconut and saute for another 5-7 minutes.
  6. Once onions are crispy, keep aside.
  7. To make paste Three, In a dry pan; separately roast cinnamon, cardamom, aniseed, black peppercorn, poppy seeds, coriander seeds, Kashmiri red chillies, star anise, maize flower, nutmeg, and turmeric.
  8. Grinding together paste II and III to make Xacuti masala.
  9. Heat oil in a pan and add onions and green chillies this is for final preparations.
  10. After a minute add the marinated chicken pieces.
  11. After two minutes to this add Xacuti masala and water.
  12. Cook the whole mixture for about 10 minutes.
  13. Serve hot with bread or rice.
