Curd Shorba

Curd Shorba | Punjabi refreshing soup recipe

Curd Shorba is a typical Punjabi soup. It is a form of kadhi that is transformed into a refreshing soup. It has a lovely texture, and can surely soothe you.

Ingredients

fresh curds (dahi) – 3 cups
besan (bengal gram flour) – 4 tsp
milk – 1/4 cup
oil – 2 tbsp
cumin seeds (jeera) – 1 tsp
finely chopped onions – 1/2 cup
finely chopped green chillies – 1 tbsp
grated ginger (adrak) – 1/2 tsp
a pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
sugar – 1 tsp
finely chopped cucumber – 1/2 cup
finely chopped coriander (dhania) – 1/4 cup

How to prepare Curd Shorba: 

  1. Take a bowl and combine the curds, besan and milk
  2. Whisk well till no lumps remain.
  3. Now take a deep pan and heat the oil and add the cumin seeds.
  4. When the seeds crackle, add the onions, green chillies and ginger and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Now to this add the curds–besan–milk mixture, turmeric powder, salt, sugar, cucumber and coriander, mix well and cook for 3 to 4 minutes in a low flame.
  6. Make sure you keep stirring it.
