Butter Chicken | Indian butter chicken recipe for Punjabi style

The butter chicken is really a rich and spicy recipe of north India. You can have it with rice, pulav or chapati or paratha. It is the authentic taste of India. In non veg, the chicken curry is tasty.

Ingredients

  • Chicken
    For theMarinade:
  • red chilli powder
  • ginger and garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 500 gm curd (for 1 kg chicken)
    For the Gravy:
  • white butter
  • black cumin seeds
  • tomato, pureed
  •  sugar
  • red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • fresh cream
  • 4 green chillies, sliced
  • fenugreek leaves, crushed

Butter chicken Process

For marinating the chicken

  1. In a mixing bowl, mix all marination ingredients.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to it and mix well. Keep it inside the fridge overnight or minimum 5-6 hours for a better taste.
  3. Roast the marinated chicken in a Tandoor or an oven for about 10-12 minutes until.

For the butter chicken gravy

  1. Heat white butter in pan.
  2. Pour in the tomato puree, and saute for 2-3 minutes. Add cumin seeds, sugar, red chilli powder and salt and Mix well.
  3. Add the roasted chicken, white butter, fresh cream, sliced green chillies and crushed fenugreek leaves. Saute for 3-4 minutes and let the chicken cook.
  4. Cook till chicken is done. Serve hot.
