Besan Ki Masala Roti | North Indian Haryana Bread recipe

The besan ki masala roti  i.e. gram flour is used for this bread with some masalas. This is a wonderful Haryana-based recipe.


For roti dough:

  • Gram Flour
  •  1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  •  1/2 cup Whole wheat flour (atta)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Pure ghee

For masala filling:

  •  1 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  •  1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder
  •  1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  •  1 Green chilli chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Dry mango powder (amchur)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Pure ghee

Besan Ki Masala Roti Process:

  1. Combine all the above-mentioned ingredients for the masala(spices) filling in a  bowl. Divide into eight equal portions and set aside.
  2. Now take all the ingredients and mix all for roti(bread) and knead into a soft dough using a little bit of water as required.
  3. And now divide the dough into eight portions and make balls using your palm.
  4. Take a rolling pin and roll out each ball into a four-inch disc and place one portion of the masala filling in the middle of the roti.
  5. Fold from all the sides and make a triangle. Roll this again to make a bigger triangular roti.
  6. Repeat the same process with the remaining dough balls and masala. Now heat a Tawa and fry each roti with a little ghee till both sides turn golden brown.
  7. Apply a little ghee on the top of the roti and serve hot.
