Beetroot Palya


  • 2-3 Medium sized Beetroots
  • 1 Tsp Oil
  • 1 Tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 Tsp Jeera
  • 1/4th Tsp Hing
  • 1 Tbsp Urad dal
  • 2-3 Green Chillies
  • 2 Tbsp Grated Coconut
  • Handful of Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste


  1. Peel & chop beetroot.
  2. Heat a pan, add oil. Add mustard seeds, jeera, hing, chopped green chillies, urad dal.
  3. When urad dal is slightly brown in color, add chopped beetroots and salt, sauté it for 5-8mins with a lid closed.
  4. After 5mins check if beetroots are soft enough or else cook for some more time.
  5. When they are completely cooked, transfer it to a serving bowl, garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves.
