Aloo Bajji | South Indian Snack Recipe

Aloo Bajji is a South Indian snacks. Potato dip into basen batter and deep fried. Aloo bajji is served with tea or coffee. It is very essay snack prepared at home.


  • 4 Potato
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 2 cup besan
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon carom seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • Oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • Water


  1. Firstly, Take a bowl, add besan, rice flour, salt, carom seeds, ginger garlic paste, baking soda, red chilli powder, little oil and mix it well.
  2. Add water and mix it like a bajji batter (basen batter).
  3. Rinse the potatoes, peel them and make it thin slices.
  4. Dip slices potato into the basen batter.
  5. Heat oil, put battered potatoes into the oil and deep fry until golden brown.
  6. Take out on tissue paper to absorb oil.
  7. Transfer to serving plate and serve with chutney.
